History: My Grandfather, John R. Nechuta, began tying jigs and other lures in the mid 1960s until 2009. Grandpa was a dam tender of the Big Eau Pleine Reservoir in Mosinee from 1976 until he retirement in 1991. He managed the 7,000- acre impoundment created and managed by the Wisconsin Valley Improvement Company, Wausau, Wisconsin. Opening the gates at the Big Eau Pleine easily affect the dams at Lake DuBay, Stevens Point, Fort Edwards and so forth, all the Wisconsin River to the Mississippi.
Grandpa John designed his weedless walleye jigs from deer hair in an array of colors and sizes, selling them to passing fisherman. The jigs were developed primarily for fishing the snag-infested waters below the dam.
My Grandfather taught me how to tie jigs and other lures when I was about ten years old. Now I've been tying jigs and making lures for years for people that I know. So now I thought I would start a tackle and bait shop. So other fishermen can purchase my jigs, lures, and more.
